About Pamlico County Schools

A Uniquely Attractive Place to Live and to Work

Pamlico County Schools is located in picturesque Pamlico County, NC where the motto is 'Where the land and sky meet the water.'
We are a small community - the atmosphere is slower, quieter, and more personal. We focus on relationships and enjoy the strong support system of our close-knit community, whether donating school supplies for our students, showing up for school beautification day, or attending our Friday Night Lights. Our community shows up!

We are able to watch the students we impact as they grow through our four schools. Starting at Pamlico County Primary School (PreK-3), moving to Fred A. Anderson Elementary School (4-5) and Pamlico County Middle School (6-8), and ultimately graduating from Pamlico County High School (9-12). The faculty and staff of our schools are superstars and are known throughout the community.

At Pamlico County Schools, there is a place for every employee to thrive and to have the opportunity to make a difference in our students' lives. Pamlico County is an ever-growing community full of leaders and innovators. The same is true in Pamlico County Schools. We are always looking to find the best of the best to surround and inspire our students to follow their dreams and reach their full potential.

Situated on a peninsula marking the center of North Carolina's Lower Coastal Plain, Pamlico County is a rich environment of land and water.  A variety of habitats are found throughout the area, including open sound water, marshlands, and mixed pine and hardwood forests.  Wildlife is abundant.

The county is mostly bordered by water on three sides:  Goose Creek and the Pamlico River on the north, Upper Broad Creek on the western boundary, and the Neuse River to the south.

Salt marshes comprise approximately 16,660 acres (7%) of the land area.  The Minnesott Ridge, which runs along NC Highway 306 was formed at the shoreline of an ancient ocean.  The elevation along this ridge is approximately 45 feet above sea level and is the highest area in the county.
