Our Mission
The Exceptional Children's Department of Pamlico County Schools is committed to ensuring that all students with disabilities receive a free, appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. We collaborate with families, educators, and community partners to support academic achievement, social-emotional development, and lifelong success.
WHO WE SERVE
We provide specialized services to students ages 3–21 who are identified with disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). These include:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (AU)
- Developmental Delay (DD)
- Emotional Disability (ED)
- Intellectual Disability (ID)
- Multiple Disabilities (MD)
- Orthopedic Impairment (OI)
- Other Health Impairment (OHI)
- Specific Learning Disability (SLD)
- Speech or Language Impairment (SLI)
- Visual or Hearing Impairments
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
Services We Provide
Our department offers a comprehensive range of services tailored to each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP):
- - Specialized Instruction (Resource & Separate Settings)
- - Speech-Language Therapy
- - Occupational & Physical Therapy
- - Behavioral Support & Counseling
- - Assistive Technology & Adaptive Equipment
- - Transition Services (for ages 14+)
- - Extended School Year (ESY)
- - Support for Students with 504 Plans
