Students Receive January Rotary Student of the Month Award

During the February meeting of the Pamlico County Board of Education, Pamlico County Middle School (PCMS) student, Jamie Durham, and Pamlico County High School (PCHS) student, Chloe Price, were recognized as the Oriental Rotary Students of the Month for their school. Each month, this recognition is bestowed upon students who exhibit scholastic achievement, leadership, honesty, community service, teamwork, and empathy, among other notable characteristics.
 
Jamie is a dedicated and outstanding 7th grade student who is always going above and beyond in his academics and consistently exceeds classroom expectations. He is a leader among his peers and sets a great example for academic excellence and conduct. He is a member of PCMS Junior Beta Club and is also a member of the PCMS band. In the last few weeks, Jamie earned 1st Chair Tenor Saxophone in the Middle School, All Eastern District, Symphonic Band. We are all very proud of Jamie. He represents PCMS very well in all that he does!
 
Chloe Price, an 11th grader, is currently enrolled in the health science education program and aspires to attend a university and pursue either dentistry or obstetrics. Chloe maintains high academic standards while working part-time at a local dry cleaning and laundry business. In addition, she is an active member of the National Beta Club, HOSA, and Eastern AHEC Youth Service Health Corp where she has more than 100 hours of documented community service. Chloe actively participates in a variety of community service endeavors including, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Fishes and Loaves Food Bank, Adopt an Elderly, Adopt a Family for the Holidays, and PCHS' annual American Red Cross blood drive. Chloe is accountable and committed to everything she chooses to pursue. She is a positive role model at school, at work, and in the community. Chloe exemplifies the Rotary's characteristics of leadership, community service, and high academic achievement. Her smile is contagious and she will make a positive contribution to the health care profession and to the community.
