Awards Announced at School Board Meeting

At the January School Board meeting, student Layla Prescott and teacher Simone Collins were recognized for awards that had been awarded prior to winter break. 
 
Layla Prescott was selected by the Coastal Plains Conference coaches as the 2022 Coastal Plains Conference Volleyball Player of the Year. Layla was a leader on the team and played the libero position. The volleyball team finished the season 18-6 overall and 9-1 in the Coastal Plains Conference. In addition, the Lady Canes advanced to the 2nd round of the NCHSAA 1A Volleyball playoffs. Congratulations to Layla Prescott, Coastal Plains Conference Volleyball Player of the Year.
 
Simone Collins, Pamlico County High School English teacher, was selected as the Pamlico County Schools' North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching Beginning Teacher of the Year. Ms. Collins is in her 3rd year at Pamlico County High School and is an outstanding beginning teacher. She touches the heart of the school both inside and outside of the classroom. Congratulations Ms. Collins!
