Marching Hurricanes are Nashville Bound!

The Pamlico Marching Hurricanes are going to Nashville, TN!

Thanks to fundraising efforts by the band students, the PCHS Band Boosters, and ultimately a $10,000 grant from the Perry-Griffin Foundation the PCHS Marching Hurricanes, made up of approximately 26 PCHS students and 9 PCMS students, will be traveling to Nashville, TN to participate in the World Strides Nashville Festival of Gold.

To receive an invitation is an honor in of itself as ensembles have had to achieve a Gold rating at a recent Heritage Festival, Superior rating at a recent state contest or by audition.

Bands that have been selected to attend the Festival of Gold will perform at the Laura Turner Concert Hall at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in late March of 2023. While there, students will attend sessions with internationally known clinicians, receive critiques and distinctions, and the experience of playing at a prestigious venue in one of the music capitals of America.

From the Perry-Griffin website, "The Perry-Griffin Foundation, a private non-profit, was created by the will of Mrs. Eddie Clare Griffin Perry more than fifty years ago. A primary goal was to provide opportunities for educational loans and grants to students who wanted to attend college but did not have the resources."

The Perry-Griffin foundation has changed the lives of many Pamlico County students throughout its 50 years and continues to do so today. The Marching Hurricanes are grateful to this amazing organization.
