Pamlico County Schools

May Rotary Students of the Month

It was so exciting to see the return of Rotary Student of the Month. Tonight at our May Board Meeting we recognized two amazing students as the first Rotary Students of the Month since our closing for the pandemic in March of 2020.

Mr. Bob Webster from the Rotary Club was in attendance to present this amazing award and was introduced by Mr. Henry Rice.

Kendall Outlaw, or as he is better known as, KJ, is representing Pamlico County Middle School. Ms. Rebecca Lansche, principal of PCMS had this to say about KJ, “KJ is a kind and honest young man who strives to do his very best at all times. He is always willing to help others and has tremendous respect for both his teachers and his peers. In addition to his outstanding character, KJ is focused on his academics and is constantly pushing himself to do more.”

Nyree Atkins is representing Pamlico County High School. Ms. Betsy McCandless, school counselor at PCHS says, “Nyree is a ray of sunshine in our school. She has a sweet spirit and truly embodies kindness and friendship in the way she treats others. Nyree has been a very active student at PCHS as part of the NJROTC, Health science, HOSA and a member of the varsity cheerleading squad. She has kept the busy schedule while also maintaining excellent grades in challenging classes. She has been accepted to several universities and plans to pursue a career in the medical field. Nyree and her family have so much to be proud of and her Pamlico County High School is incredibly excited to see how this young adult thrives in the future that’s as bright as her spirit and smile.” Nyree has chosen to attend North Carolina A&T in the fall.
